Documentation
Everything you need to get WA Order for WooCommerce running on your store — from first install to multi-vendor Pro setup.
1Installing Lite
WA Order for WooCommerce (Lite) is a standard WordPress plugin. Requires WordPress 6.0+, WooCommerce active, and PHP 7.4+.
- In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New and search for "WA Order for WooCommerce" (once listed on WordPress.org), or upload the plugin zip directly via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
- Click Activate.
- You'll see a new menu item under WooCommerce → WA Order.
2First-time setup
Go to WooCommerce → WA Order and fill in:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| WhatsApp Number | Your store's number, country code + digits only, no spaces or +. E.g. 27821234567 for a South African 082 number. |
| Message Template | What the pre-filled WhatsApp message says — see below. |
| Button Text | Separately customisable for the product page and cart page buttons. |
| Show On... | Toggle the button on/off per page type. |
Once your number is saved, visit any product page on your store — you'll see the "Order via WhatsApp" button appear beneath the Add to Cart button.
3Message template
The default template looks like this:
Hi! I'd like to order:
{items}
Total: {total}
Name:
Delivery address:
Two placeholders are available:
- {items} — the product list, one line per item
- {total} — the order total
Everything else is plain text you can edit freely. The customer can still edit the final message inside WhatsApp before sending — the template just gives them a head start.
4Upgrading to Pro
Pro is a separate plugin that requires Lite to be active. Install and activate it the same way, then go to WooCommerce → WA Order Pro to enter your license key.
5Multi-vendor setup
For each vendor/seller account on your marketplace:
- Go to Users → (their profile).
- Scroll to the WhatsApp Order Number field and enter their number.
- Leave it blank to fall back to your store-wide number instead.
If you use Dokan or WCFM Marketplace, Pro will automatically try that vendor's own store phone number first, before falling back to your global number.
6WhatsApp Order Log
Every time a shopper taps an "Order via WhatsApp" button, Pro creates a real order in WooCommerce — in a new WhatsApp Order status — before they ever leave the page. Nothing about the order depends on the customer actually sending the WhatsApp message; the record exists the moment the button is clicked, so a lost chat or a dead phone battery no longer means the order is gone.
- Go to WooCommerce → Orders — new WhatsApp orders appear there automatically, no setup required.
- Once you've confirmed the order with the customer on WhatsApp, move it to Processing or Completed exactly like any other order.
- Each order includes an order note showing which WhatsApp number the message was sent to — handy on multi-vendor sites.
7Troubleshooting
| Issue | Likely cause |
|---|---|
| Button doesn't appear | No WhatsApp number saved yet, or "Show On Product Page" is switched off in settings. |
| WhatsApp opens with no message | Number field contains characters other than digits — remove any spaces, dashes, or the leading +. |
| Pro features not unlocking | License key not yet activated on this site, or the license has expired — check WooCommerce → WA Order Pro. |
| No new order appears for a WhatsApp click | Order Log only runs on an active Pro license. If it's licensed and still missing, check your browser console for a blocked request — some ad blockers flag admin-ajax.php calls. |
